CrateCore — Copyright / Takedown Policy

Effective date: July 17, 2026

Operator: the individual developer of the CrateCore service

Complaints: legal@cratecore.app

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to:
- CrateCore editorial images and stories;
- release covers displayed via the Cover Art Archive or another permitted source;
- user content, where it is synchronized through the service;
- pages of the cratecore.app website.

2. Source rules

CrateCore observes the following restrictions (details: https://cratecore.app/attribution/en/):
- Discogs images are not requested, stored, or displayed;
- Discogs data is used only within the permitted field set and the Discogs API terms;
- Wikidata is used as a source of structured facts (CC0);
- Wikipedia is used only as a source of facts; verbatim text is not copied;
- Wikimedia Commons images are allowed only under free licenses (Public Domain, CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA) and with attribution;
- Cover Art Archive covers remain the property of their rights holders; CrateCore stores only the link and metadata, not a copy of the file;
- AI illustrations are always labeled as generated; AI portraits of real musicians presented as photographs are prohibited.

3. How to file a rights-holder complaint

Send an e-mail to legal@cratecore.app with the subject "Copyright Takedown".

Include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the work you believe is infringed;
- a link to or the exact location of the disputed material in CrateCore;
- your contact details: name, e-mail (and address/phone if you wish);
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, their agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder;
- for a DMCA notice (US): a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right.

Note for the US: notices are handled under a DMCA-like procedure. A designated DMCA agent has not yet been registered in the U.S. Copyright Office directory; this section will be updated upon registration.

4. What we do after a complaint

After receiving a sufficiently complete complaint, we:
- confirm receipt, if a working contact is provided;
- review the material and the source;
- take down the disputed image or material within 72 hours of confirming the complaint;
- replace the image with a placeholder if the issue concerns only the image;
- unpublish the story if the issue concerns the text or a substantial violation;
- record the action for audit.

5. Incomplete complaints

If a notice is incomplete, we may request the missing information. Until sufficient data is received, we may temporarily hide the material if the risk is evident.

6. Counter-notice

If you believe material was taken down in error, send an e-mail to legal@cratecore.app with the subject "Copyright Counter-Notice".

Include:
- a physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the removed material and its former location;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the removal was a mistake or misidentification;
- your name and contact details;
- for DMCA scenarios — consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court and to accepting service of process from the party that filed the original complaint.

For DMCA scenarios, material may be restored no earlier than 10 and no later than 14 business days after the counter-notice is received, unless the complainant notifies us of filing a lawsuit. For other scenarios, CrateCore acts under applicable law and its own risk assessment.

7. Repeat infringers

CrateCore may restrict or close the accounts of users who repeatedly violate third-party rights.

8. False complaints

Filing a knowingly false complaint or counter-notice may entail liability. We may reject abusive, automated, or bad-faith complaints.
