The first rock double album that dared to call itself a concept record comes back for its 60th birthday. On 25 September Zappa Records and UMe reissue Freak Out! as a five-LP box.
Inside: the 1966 pre-master mix on two LPs, never released before; the long out-of-print 1966 mono mix on two more; and a fifth LP of highlights from the vault — the Mothers live at the Fillmore Auditorium in 1966, demos and session outtakes. The box adds an expanded booklet with rare photos and new essays, a reproduction of Zappa's fold-out Freak Out! Hot Spots map and a litho print.
Pre-orders are open at the official Zappa store. If you only want the original stereo mix, the same store sells a 2LP edition on multicolour vinyl.
